On January 28, 2017, Coach Chris travelled to Valparaiso, IN to train with his long time friend and fellow martial artist Donnell Etienne, and his crew at Corral Martial Arts.
Donnell and Coach Chris have competed against one another over the years at local BJJ competitions and always gave each other a good fight.
On October 28 & 29, 2016, Coach Chris traveled again to Mississippi to attend a Black Belt evaluation and Roy Dean seminar at TNT Martial Arts Academy. RDA Affiliate student Alan Shade tested for his BJJ black belt and did extremely well. Coach Chris was fortunate enough to take part in the evaluation by being one of Mr. Shade's opponent's during the sparring phase. The entire video can be seen on Professor Dean's YouTube page.
The next day Coach Chris attended a BJJ seminar performed by Professor Dean. Some serious technique was shared with the group and everyone there had a blast.
On September 16 & 17, 2016, Coach Chris attended two Roy Harris seminars held at Xtreme Training Academy in Bartlett, IL. The first night focused on Professor Harris' brand of BJJ and his unique training methods. The next day Coach Chris had a private lesson with Mr. Harris first thing in the morning. Then he attended the JKD/FMA seminar in which Mr. Harris dropped some serious knowledge on the topics of JKD Intercepting and FMA's Illustrisimo technique.
On April 30, 2016 Professor Roy Dean again visited Atlas Xtreme Team to conduct a BJJ seminar where the focus was on Guard Passing - Conceptual Gold. Attendance of the event was phenomenal, with many students visiting from other academies. The next day Coach Chris attended a Professor Dean BJJ/Aikido blend seminar at Kikumatsu Dojo in Chicago.
On February 25th 2016, Sensei Chuck Clark tested Coach Chris for his Shingitai Jujitsu Black Belt. The test included Shingitai Jujitsu historical knowledge and principles, technical demonstration of striking, clinch & ground fighting techniques both in gi and no gi, self-defense against single & multiple opponents, and sparring, Coach Chris passed his examination.
On January 9th 2016, Coach Chris traveled to Griffith, Indiana to attend a no-gi seminar hosted by WEC Champion, UFC Fighter & BJJ Black Belt, Miguel Torres.
On October 17, 2015, Coach Chris, along with members of Atlas Xtreme Team, traveled to Southaven, Mississippi to attend a Professor Roy Dean seminar hosted by TNT Martial Arts Academy featuring Lessons Learned as a Black Belt.
On May 22, 2015, Coach Chris travelled to Xtreme Training Academy in Bartlett, IL to attend a Roy Harris BJJ seminar. Focus that evening was on usable, repeatable skill set development.
While Mr. Harris was in town conducting a JKD Level 5 Instructor course Coach Chris was able to get in a private lesson to work on developing his trapping skills.
On May 16, 2015, Professor Roy Dean visited Atlas Xtreme Team Grappling Club where he put on a BJJ seminar featuring his Favorite BJJ Combinations. Coach Chris was promoted to purple belt by Professor Dean at the conclusion of the seminar.
In March 2015, Coach Chris travelled to Blackline Academy in Southern California to attend the Harris International JKD Level Two Instructorship course. There he learned about all things involving the art of trapping, both from the Filipino Martial Arts and Wing Chun. Coach Chris was fortunate to share mat space with some extremely talented martial artists during his four day training session.
